Tink ‘N Frog was born out of the imagination of Leslie Rzeznik. A lifelong knitter, Leslie began designing knitting patterns when she couldn’t find *exactly* what she wanted.
Her experience in dressmaking and designing helped her visualize many of the knitting techniques needed to form curves and shapes.
Leslie learned to knit (and sew and many other things) from her mother, Irene, who was an expert knitter. Irene never met a pattern she couldn’t conquer (unless it was colorwork!) and she never failed at solving others’ knitting mistakes.
One of the traditions that “Grandma Rez” kept was making Christmas ornaments every year for the family. When she died in 2007, Leslie took over that tradition and since then has (mostly) knitted unique ornaments every year. You will find many of those patterns in these pages.
Since this is a new endeavor as of January 2022, please be patient and come back often to see our new content!
About Our Name and Logo
“Tink” and “frog” are knitting terms. To frog something is to remove your needles and pull on the yarn, ripping down the knitted item row by row. That might mean frogging down to a row before you made a mistake and putting your stitches back on the needles, or frogging an entire project. Sometimes we start over and sometimes we abandon that project altogether and use the yarn for something else.
Tinking is un-knitting. T-I-N-K is K-N-I-T in reverse. When you “tink”, you undo your knitting stitch by stitch. This is useful when you have only a few stitches or a row to undo, or if you have a complicated pattern with lots of yarnovers and such that frogging would make really difficult to pick back up.
As to our mascots? The Frog goes without saying and we thought “Tink” was a fine name for a Llama or Alpaca or whatever wooly camelid she decides she wants to be.
We hope you enjoy our patterns, Knotions, and all of the love and history that goes into them.
